The Premier slammed two Queenslanders who have tested positive after lying about an interstate trip, claiming due to their "negligent actions" authorities now had to do extensive contact tracing.
They have sparked a massive contact tracing mission for Queensland Health while being responsible for the state's first community transmission of coronavirus since May.
"The only challenge for NSW is limited freedom of movement for our residents", she said.
Today, NSW had 19 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 with most linked to the clusters at the Thai Rock restaurant in Wetherill Park and in Potts Point.
"Your safety comes first and we are in extraordinary times at the moment", she told reporters on Wednesday morning.
Ms Palaszczuk said an additional 31 areas across Greater Sydney will be added to the declared hotspot list from 1am on Saturday.
Premier Berejiklian said the only effect for her residents was limiting their freedom to move around the country. Queenslanders returning from greater Sydney after Saturday will be required to do two weeks in hotel quarantine at their own expense.
Ms Palaszczuk said she is surprised people are still trying to enter the state when they are clearly ineligible.
