List of National Retail Chains Requiring Masks is Growing


Current tally: 15 national retailers now require masks in every store. Privately owned companies are free to implement mask rules, regardless of local or state law. You can learn more here. The issue: keeping employees from getting ill AND avoiding having to close the store/restaurant for cleaning after an employee tests positive.

Local stores are following close behind.

So, how does a company protect their employees?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has advocated for the use of masks and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has asked Virginians to wear masks while visiting indoor businesses. "If a customer refuses to adhere to store policies, they are putting employees and other customers at undue risk". It's designating certain trained employees as "health ambassadors".
