PAC-12 announces conference only play for fall sports

For the UW Huskies football team, their first conference game is scheduled against OR in Eugene on October 4.

Fall sport student-athletes will not use a season of Ivy League or NCAA eligibility in the fall, whether or not they enroll.

The Pac-12 CEO Group's decision will delay the start of fall seasons, including football.

Remember, Warren and the Big Ten were one of the leaders in making a decision to cancel the Big Ten Basketball Tournament in March when things began to initially turn south with the coronavirus pandemic. And the move didn't wash away fears the entire fall season could be in jeopardy.

Details on what a conference-only schedule would look like will be announced no later than July 31. "I was cautiously optimistic".

There are six men's soccer programs in the Pac-12 and the full 12-team allotment in women's soccer.

The Big Ten has made summer workouts voluntary. "We plan to continue to prepare for all available scenarios until we are informed that some are no longer viable".

The marquee nonconference matchups in the Big Ten this season included Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin on October 3 at Lambeau Field, home of the NFL's Green Bay Packers. Penn State won the women's championship in 2015.

The University of Arizona football team was scheduled to host Hawaii in week zero, Portland State the following week and then travel to Texas Tech two weeks after that. Bowling Green athletic director Bob Moosbrugger said the Big Ten's decision "is the tip of the iceberg".

Smaller schools that rely on revenue from guarantee football games against Power Five schools could be shorted millions of dollars. "We recognize the challenges ahead and know the well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans must remain at the forefront of those decisions".

NIU is now scheduled to play six home games and four road games, with nonconference games against Rhode Island Sept. 5 and BYU Oct. 24.
