The Happiest Place on Earth is finally giving way to the coronavirus crisis and closing its doors - but not before throwing one last very irresponsible goodbye party!

In an post shared with DCP cast members (CPs), all participants are required to collect their belongings and depart their housing complexes by March 18 at 11 a.m.

In earlier reports, authorities said that both Disney World and Disneyland would be closed until March 31 during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

The parks previously said last week, when announcing their park closures, that hotels, Disney Springs and Universal CityWalk would remain open.

Bob Chapek, who was recently named new CEO of Disney on February 25 to replace Bob Iger, is the former chairman of Disney Parks. Guests are encouraged to make arrangements to depart by then.

As seen in photos captured by the Associated Press on Sunday night, Disney World guests gathered on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom for an emotional "farewell" (for now) to the theme park.

"While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California's executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month..."

Disney will also be closing all of its owned and operated locations at Downtown Disney in Anaheim and Disney Springs in Orlando, beginning March 17.

Note, the Operations Update from Disney says that independently owned and operated locations are making their own decisions on their own closures. Disney Springs is set to close March 17th and Walt Disney World Resort Hotels will follow suit on March 20th.

We will continue to stay in close contact with appropriate officials and health experts.
