Pelosi to back Trump impeachment inquiry

She was making calls as late as Monday night, and many leadership aides who once thought Trump's impeachment was unlikely now say they think it's nearly inevitable.

The letter seeks to get donations that will be "double matched".

Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats are privately discussing the creation of a select committee, the Washington Post reports: "The California Democrat has spoken to key allies in recent days about establishing a special panel rather than leaving the task with the House Judiciary Committee, said several Democratic officials". And yet, all of them, in one fashion or another, already called for impeachment. They want to take YOUR VOTE away.

Trump and his unhinged personal attorney Rudy Giuliani have seized on a narrative, likely promulgated in online conservative circles, that Biden somehow influenced the decision to fire Shokin because he was "investigating his son".

After more than two and one-half years of sharp Democratic criticism of Trump, the formal impeachment quest sets up the party's most urgent and consequential confrontation with a president who thrives on combat - and injects deep uncertainty in the 2020 White House race.

To make a statement: ALL DONATIONS WILL BE DOUBLE-MATCHED. The complaint reportedly centers on Trump and a promise he made during a phone call with a foreign leader. CNN has previously reported that Trump pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the call to investigate Biden's son, Hunter, according to a person familiar with the situation. Trump later released the aid.

Trump, who was meeting with world leaders at the United Nations, previewed his defence in an all-caps tweet: "PRESIDENTIAL HARRASSMENT!" But Trump himself basically told reporters Monday that he did pressure Zelensky, though not in so many words.

Trump said in tweets today: "I am now at the United Nations representing our Country, but have authorized the release tomorrow of the complete, fully declassified and unredacted transcript of my phone conversation with President Zelensky of Ukraine..."

"Marcy Wheeler, journalist " I am now at the United Nations representing our Country, but have authorized the release tomorrow of the complete, fully declassified and unredacted transcript of my phone conversation with President Zelensky of Ukraine", Trump tweeted from NY.

"You will see it was a very friendly and totally appropriate call", Trump said. It's probably not bad enough to warrant removal by the GOP-controlled Senate unless he actually issued an explicit quid pro quo demand in the conversation to nail Biden, but it's going to make impeachment much more understandable to voters and might demoralize his own base.

As Pelosi was speaking, Trump dismissed the move by Democrats as "witch hunt garbage".

The president has continued to deny reports and Tuesday afternoon vowed to release the transcript from the conversation in question.
