The "Howdy, Modi!" event would the first time when an American president addresses thousands of Indian-Americans at one place in the US. Around 50,000 people are likely to attend the event.

Ms Gabbard said, USA and India have a strong and lasting partnership which is based on shared values and objectives.

The prime minister will showcase what India has done to address climate change issues and also spell out India's expectations and aspirations from the global community to address "this very pressing problem", Gokhale said.

PM Modi will also inaugurate the Gandhi Solar Park in NY. Recently Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said it was up to America to take a call on reinstating India's status as a beneficiary of that programme while asserting India meets the criteria for trade concessions under the GSP.

This will be the first time that the two leaders will share a platform during an event together.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that his government has conveyed to the Indian High Commission that it will not allow the use of its airspace for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flight.

On the same day, Modi will also receive an award by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation for the Swachh Bharat campaign.
